Yvan Muller Citroen C Elysée
J-3 avant la prochaine épreuve du championnat du Monde WTCC a Vila Real au Portugal 🇵🇹
D-3 before next WTCC event at Vila Real Portugal
"With one of the most impressive records in motorsport, Yvan Muller is one of the leading lights of the WTCC, having notched up four titles, in 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Like most track drivers, he started out in karting, and with some success, finishing as World Championship runner-up in 1985 and European Champion in 1986. Moving on to single-seater racing, he spent time on the other side of the Channel, and won the British F2 Championship in 1992.
With Formula 1 opportunities not forthcoming, the driver, a native of Alsace, turned his hand to touring cars. In 1995, he was crowned French Champion, and that same year, he got his first taste of ice racing. He quickly established himself as the man to beat in the discipline, with ten titles in the Andros Trophy and multiple victories at the 24 Hours of Chamonix.
Nevertheless, Yvan remained a touring car driver at heart. One by one, he made the Italian, German and British championships his own. His eight seasons in the prestigious BTCC saw him clinch the title in 2003.
Yvan Muller was involved in the WTCC from its second year of existence. In 2008, he even became the first driver to win a world title in a diesel car! After four years at Seat, he joined Chevrolet and won two more championship crowns in 2010 and 2011. Without an official driver’s spot in 2013, he carried on with the RML team and added a fourth title to his collection.
Like his new teammate Sébastien Loeb, Yvan Muller is a real motorsport fanatic. His wealth of experience across the world includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans, V8 Supercars in Australia, the Dakar Rally and a few rounds in the WRC.
Despite his long career, Yvan had never worked with a French team prior to this season. Involved from the very first tests on the Citroën C-Elysée WTCC, he has brought the team great experience and an impressive turn of speed.
During the year Muller was as consistent as ever and racked up victories, but occasionally he got caught up in traffic and lost several points in the chase for his fifth world title. However, he still ended 2014 in second place in the world championship, his eighth top-3 finish on the bounce in the FIA WTTC. In 2015 he is starting his second season with Citroën Racing."
