 Fantastic Norma success at Monza!

After finishing second yesterday in the first race of the Michelin Le Mans Cup (pole position and fastest lap) with the DKR Engineering team, the new Norma M30 LMP3 (with YMR Team / Drivers : Ricky Capo and Erwin Creed) triumphed this afternoon in the ELMS race (European Le Mans Series) at Monza (Italy).
After only a few races in Europe and the United States (in IMSA with KMR Team), the new Norma M30 promises to be the new reference in the LMP3 category.

The Norma team is proud and happy to share with fans the first international victory of the Norma M30 LMP3.

Silverstone recebe segunda ronda da Blancpain Endurance Cup.

Após o desastroso inicio de época em Monza no qual 12 carros ficaram inutilizados logo no arranque, a Blancpain Endurance Cup tem agendada para o próximo fim de semana 13 e 14 no circuito de Silverstone a segunda das cinco provas.

Cada visita a Silverstone é sinónimo de grande festa do automobilismo. A forma como se vive um fim de semana de provas em Inglaterra é simplesmente fantástica. Pela minha parte, espero ter melhor sorte do que que em Monza, onde apenas dei 7 voltas nos treinos de sábado. O acidente logo na partida, onde infelizmente o nosso carro também foi afetado, estragou-nos o fim de semana. Mas são assim mesmo as corridas. Pela minha parte, pensamento positivo e que a próxima vai sempre correr melhor.

Este fim-de-semana faço um regresso esporádico à Blancpain Endurance Cup. Vou substituir o Nick Leventis que se magoou num despiste em Monza. Espero que recupere rapidamente. Não é a forma mais agradável de regressar mas, com o Oliver Webb e o Lewis Williamson, vou dar o máximo para obter um bom resultado na corrida de 3 horas de domingo.

This weekend I’ll return to Blancpain Endurance Cup. I’ll take over from Nick Leventis who hurt himself at Monza. I hope he will recover soon. It isn’t the most pleasant way to return but, with Oliver Webb and Lewis Williamson, I’ll give my best to get a good result in the Sunday’s 3 hours race.

 Hoje, foi dia de trabalho em Silverstone, com a Strakka Racing, o Lewis Williamson e o Oliver Webb. 

Amanhã temos a qualificação e a corrida de três horas. Eu faço o segundo turno.
Vamos dar o máximo, mas com cinquenta e cinco carros muito fortes em pista não será fácil… ;)

Today was work time at Silverstone with Strakka Racing, Lewis Williamson and Oliver Webb.
Tomorrow we will have the qualifying and the three-hour race. I’ll do the second stint.
We will give our best, but with fifty-five strong cars on track it won’t be easy… ;)

 Tivemos uma qualificação dificil e arrancámos de 45º. No entanto, fizemos uma boa recuperação e terminámos em 8º. Foi um bom resultado e uma boa performance.

Agora espero que o Nick possa recuperar rapidamente e regressar às corridas mais rápido possível.

We had a hard qualifying and we started from 45th. Though, we did a good recover and we ended 8th. It was a good result and a very good performance.
Now, I hope Nick Leventis may recover fast and return to racing as soon as possible.

Obtivemos o 5 lugar ProAm após recuperação fantástica.
Mistura de sentimentos.
Campeonato super competitivo. Fim de semana muito difícil.
Poderíamos ter estado no pódio se não fosse o infortúnio de me tocarem e me colocarem fora de pista a meio da corrida perdendo 10 lugares.
Obrigado a toda a equipa pelo excelente trabalho.

Hungaroring ETCC

Temos já no próximo fim-de-semana a segunda ronda do ETCC, agora em Hungaroring.
É um circuito novo para mim, mas esperamos fazer um bom trabalho de equipa para me colocar na luta pelas primeiras posições.

Next weekend we will be at Hungaroring for the second 2017 ETCC round.
It’s a new circuit to me, but we hope to do a good teamwork so I can fight for the top positions.

Honda Racing WTCC takes its first WTCC MAC3 victory of 2017!

 

Honda claimed victory in the third MAC3 session of the 2017 FIA World Touring Car Championship while Tiago Monteiro secured a front-row grid spot at the Hungaroring.

The three-car crew of Ryo Michigami, Tiago Monteiro and Norbert Michelisz completed the fastest team time trial at the 2.7-mile circuit near Budapest, emerging on top by nearly four seconds.

Tiago’s ninth-fastest time in qualifying ensures that the Championship leader will start from second place in the reversed-grid Opening Race with a great chance to add to the three podiums he’s taken from the opening four races this season.

His Castrol Honda World Touring Car Team-mate Norbert Michelisz, who is racing in front of his home crowd this weekend, was the fastest of the three Honda Civic WTCCs in the session, which began on a damp track.

His sixth-quickest time in Q2 was agonisingly close to giving the Hungarian hero a spot in Q3, but just fell short.

Norbert, a two-time WTCC race winner in his homeland, will start the Opening Race from fifth spot.

Ryo Michigami showed top-five pace in a wet second practice session, but just missed out on a top-10 grid spot. He qualified 12th for the Main Race and will start the Opening Race from 11th.

Sunday’s Opening Race begins at 1235 with the Main Race following at 1345.

“On the positive side, I’m on the front row for the Opening Race, which gives me a great chance to increase my Championship lead. P9 isn’t where I expected to be on speed, but the Honda is running maximum compensation weight and in qualifying – the first time we’ve had a dry track all weekend – you can really feel this having an effect on the car. We’ll work out where we can improve things from tomorrow and then attack.”

“It’s been a very good day and I’m delighted to have my second win of the year. From second on the grid, the target was to take the victory and we’ve done this, despite carrying 80kg of compensation weight. It’s a nice points advantage to have so early in the season, but we’ve seen from what’s happened to Norbi at the past two races that you can lose big points very easily through no fault of your own. It’s very important to keep building on this at the next few rounds.”
